Character name: sĂ©bastien le livre aka booker Age: 250, looks like 42 Canon: the old guard (2020) Info: (taken from a previous app, because no one's written a succinct history of this world yet sob) The Old Guard universe is analogous to our universe except that sometimes there are 4-5 immortal people just hanging out. The first (known) immortal is Andromache the Scythian (~5400BCE) who predates the wheel and was once worshiped as a god because of her inability to stay dead. She led her people for thousands of years as a warrior queen. Eventually, centuries and millennia later, she set off and roamed the Earth and was alone for centuries until she started dreaming of a woman like her, immortal. Enter Quỳnh (~1100BCE), the second immortal. Once they met the dreams stopped and the two women traveled the world together until they started dreaming of another immortal. Lykon (~331BCE) fought with them for centuries until his immortality inexplicably faded and he died in battle, wounds not healing, and the immortals discovered that it could end with no warning. Not cool. The fourth and fifth immortals were reborn at the same time (1099CE) - Yusuf and NicolĂČ killed each other during the First Crusade and woke up, and then killed each other again. It did not stick. Eventually the two men were found by the two women and they traveled together for nearly five centuries. Quỳnh was lost during the religious hysteria and witch trials in England, but she didn't die, instead she was trapped in an iron maiden and dropped into the sea, condemned to die and die again for all eternity. Another immortal was not discovered until SĂ©bastien le Livre was hung for desertion (1812CE) during Napoleon's Russian campaign. For two hundred years it was just the four of them until they found Nile Freeman and the events of the movie happened.
SĂ©bastien le Livre was born on May 17, 1770 in Marseilles, France. He was a forger of documents and coins, and upon arrest he was given the choice between prison or conscription into Napoelonâs Grand ArmĂ©e. SĂ©bastien chose the latter. So he fought with Napoleon in the French invasion into Russia at 700,000 strong, which sounds like the start to a heroic story. However on December 1812, Booker was hanged for desertion â something about the too-frigid winters and the fact that he was not a soldier had him wanting to bounce, and the Grand ArmĂ©e werenât about to let an opportunity to make an example of him go. When he gained consciousness again, there was still a noose around his neck and soldiers too near for him to make a clean escape. Like any newly-minted immortal, terrified and confused and wanting answers, he played dead for about three days until the army were gone, and then he made his move. Some time shortly after, the rest of the Old Guard found him but itâs unclear of the exact moment when he joined them permanently. That said, he was the youngest immortal of the Old Guard at 250 until Nile Freeman joined the team.
Prior to his arrest and subsequent death at the tender age of 42, SĂ©bastien also had something of a relatively normal life (aside from his side-gig in crime) in France, with a wife and three sons. When he returned to them following his escape, it became increasingly difficult to keep up the ruse; everyone around him was aging, and mysteriously Booker remained the same. Finally, while caring for his youngest son, Jean-Pierre, Booker revealed the truth about his ability and why he literally hadnât aged a day since his return; he was scorned and cast away, accused of being selfish and hateful. His son died at 42 in the hospital from cancer, the same age when Booker had died. What followed was a hard journey to get where he is by the time the events of movie canon begin. He is clearly a man still haunted by his past, and young enough for it to still be vivid in his mind. He is an alcoholic with a permanently gloomy disposition, suffering from a grief and depression and survivorâs guilt that he canât shake, no matter how many jobs he takes on with the Old Guard, or how much alcohol he consumes. Canon point: pre-movie, right before his reunion with the others in marrakesh

Plans: maybe use astra as a way to deal with his dumb destructive emotions, gain a redemption arc before he explodes his entire life and family apart, maybe get punched in the face a couple of times for his troubles, but also f-find an emotional connection?? in space?? Suggestions: just gonna roll with the punches on this one, i already feel like planetary events and exploration plots are a good 'out of ones comfort zone' thing. maybe somehow fiddle with a soulmate au in this somehow would be dope?? (i'm obviously weak for soulmate aus as they are my #1 fave.)
